Vengaya chutney / onion tamarind chutney – spicy tanginess filled chutney to make as a wonderful side dish for idli or dosa.

Ingredients

Small onions/ shallots – 15 to 20 nos
Tamarind – ¼ lemon size
Red chilies - 10 to 12 nos
Salt – as needed
To season:
Gingelly oil – 4 tbsp
Mustard – ½ tsp
Urad dal – ½ tsp
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
