soak tamarind, chop onions. Fry onions and garlic in tadka, boil them in tamarind juice, add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and sambar karam. Allow this to boil and add dal and again boil.

Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Red Chilli - 1
Curry Leaves - 5 to 7
Oil - 1 tbsp
