For the Casserole:
5 slices (~4 ounces) thick-cut bacon
4 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 cup white onion, diced
1 (30-ounce) bag frozen Ore-Ida Shredded Hash Brown Potatoes, fully thawed
1 cup sour cream
1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
2 cups (8 ounces) Colby jack cheese, shredded
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Topping:
2 cups crispy rice cereal, crushed
3 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
green onions, for garnish
