Classic Cornbread:
2 cups yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups buttermilk
1 egg
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
10 prepared biscuits, crumbled (about 3 cups) (I used frozen \\\"Southern style\\\" biscuits)
1 large onion, diced
4 stalks celery, diced
1/3 cup finely chopped fresh sage
2 eggs, lightly beaten
4 cups low-salt, fat-free chicken or vegetable broth, undiluted
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
