6 large egg yolks
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest, plus ½ cup juice (3 lemons)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 2 pieces

MERINGUE:
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup water
3 large egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/8 teaspoon table salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
