2 - 3 medium carrots, peeled
2 - 3 celery ribs, strings removed
2 - 3 onions, skinned and left whole or halved

2 - 3 garlic cloves, peeled and quartered
1 - 1 1/2 tsp chicken or beef base powder
1 1/2 - 2 tsp Herbs de Provence
