1 lb. asparagus, ends trimmed and cut into 3-4 pieces
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup half and half
11/2 cups milk (I used 2%)
12 ounces mascarpone cheese (cream cheese will work too)
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon lemon zest
5 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
salt and pepper, to taste
8 ounces cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works too)*
